Graffiti

Ive done some research on a street Vandal/artist who is famous for creating public pieces of art. There is a lot of controversy surrounding his 'career' and someone describes ''that Banksy's street art glorifies what is essentially vandalism". I believe that graffiti is a piece of art, and some buildings look more cultural with it on. I do not believe that vandalising on other peoples property is fair, it is bad behaviour. Street artists like this should earn a decent job and be paid to do art on properties. This is so that they will not be referred to as 'criminals' but as artists. People such as Banksy are very gifted creatively, and their art sends messages to people around them. If it keep people out of worse crime trouble then why not allow them to express their creative gifts?

This image is an example of how creative Banksy's artwork is.

In Response to Lisa's blog on Abortion

http://lisastovin.blogspot.com/

I also agree that abortion is wrong. These days, contraception is too easy to receive and free! I believe people make mistakes but why not have the morning after pill? You have up to 24 hours after conception to take it and end your pregnancy. Some people believe that the morning after pill is abortion but i do not. Pregnancy and child birth is a miracle and these procedures undermine the whole thing. It is irresponsible but it is the persons choice no one Else's, to decide whether they want to keep their child or not.

The link above is for information on abortion. This offends me as it makes pregnancy seem like an illness when it clearly isn't.

Comment left on Emma's Blog

I believe a white lie never hurt anybody. However lying can make you look really stupid. For example if you tell two different stories and they dont add up. Lies lead to more lies so what is the point really?

Murder

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/8657812.stm

I came across this horrible article on the BBC website. A man got into a fight and died later in hospital from a head injury. The way the article is written, is as though it isn't a shock to the writer. It got me thinking of how the word murder means nothing today because it is so common. The act of taking another persons life is outrageous and is completely against the fate of life. Articles like this should be written about more seriously because i believe that murder is one of the worst crimes possible. Life for Life, simple.

In Response to Amina's Blog: Illegal Downloading

http://aminacaley77.blogspot.com/

I agree with the idea supplied by Amina. It is clea that people would rather get something for free than pay for it. The things that people have to beware of is the danger of illegal downloading. Safe downloading websites are there for us to use but are at a cost. On the Direct.gov website we are warned of viruses, theft through out file sharing and exposure to dangerous strangers. The question we have to ask ourself is whether illegally downloading is worth the potential dangers we are putting our details and computers through. However, nothing will stop people from illegally downloading because it is so easy.

In Response to Mewish's Blog

I agree that tattoo's have become a fashionable activity in today's society. Tattoo's are usually associated with 'bad boys' or 'rockers'. However, today everyone seems to have one, and they say once you have one you want more. I believe that the problem with tattoo's is that they look ridiculous as you get older. Also because it is a piece of art, the tattooist cannot always design it to your ideal. Is it really worth all that regret? I am a strong believe that ones body should be respected, and that tattoo's oppose this because your skin isn't a fashion accessory. Dress how you like, die your hair but don't design your skin.

Here is a link about the danger of Tattoo's:

In Response to Racine's Blog on Bandits.

Racine raised a good point about how Robin Hood was deemed as 'good' because he stole from the rich to give to the poor. Also it is confusing to study how something that is bad to one is good to another. I believe that life follows a parallel, in which when one is happy another is not. This fits with the hero and bandit theme.7

The article bellow found by Racine puts this idea in to context very well. The man was clearly protecting his property and his family, this 'hero' is now being treated as a bandit. The Times describes him as 'courageous' which I'm sure many of us would agree.

One tequila, Two tequila, Three tequila FLOOR!

Love the title!

Let's face it, nearly everyone drinks. Drinking is something that us 'Brits do. After a long week (not for us students) many people let their hair down and have a few beers on the weekend. I believe that there is nothing at all wrong with this.

The government have tried their hardest to stop the amount that we consume by bringing in the 'units' scale. Nevertheless, people will continue to drink over the limit because lets face it, once you get going you dont want to stop!

However the down side to drinking is violence and drink driving. We have all seen the horrible adverts warning us not to drink, and in some cases we should all know when to stop. Alcohol isnt the problem we face, its the people and amounts that are being drank.

http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Alcohol-and-Sensible-Drinking.htm

In Response to Emma's Blog:

Indeed, Drinking is good! I agree that you shouldnt go out to much because it can lead to becoming an alcoholic. Also many people do drink through peer pressure, but thats never going to change.

Foul language or Common vocab?

Swearing can be defined as profane or obscene expression usually through anger. From a young age we are taught that swearing is immoral and makes one seem rude. However in today's society swearing has become day to day vocab. Words change meaning over time and what one person may view as swearing may not be the same to another.

This is usually used in situations of anger or pain. For example when you kick your toe on the bed the first thing you do if swear (then cry). This shows that we relate swearing with anger. The fact that we are using it from day to day may make us look angry when in fact we are not.

I believe that we should only use swearing appropriately. People who swear over unnecessary pieces of information in a conversation sound horrible. Swearing is obviously bad because society blocks out swearing in programmes and media.

In response to Courtney's blog:
I agree that swearing can lead to violence. One wrong word these days and a fight breaks out!

Playing the Field

Many people believe that cheating on ones partner is an extremely immoral sin. The bible states that you should not covert another mans wife! On the other hand celebrities of today promote the idea that infidelity is the 'in' thing to do. For example the Pitt, Jolie and Aniston relationship triangle. Many people congratulate Pitt for getting two of the most well known actresses of Hollywood. I believe that this is an outrage.

The question is whether the grass is greener on the other side? At the end of the day, we all get one shot at life. If we believe we will be happier with someone else then we should say instead of going behind our partners backs and humiliating them! In my opinion this is one of the worse forms of bad behaviour.

Theft!

Clearly there are different levels of theft. This varies from pinching a sweet from the pick' n'mix stand (which we have all done) and robing a bank. Under the terms of the Theft Act 1968 theft can be robbery, burglary and removal of articles from places to the public. This outlines all the different forms of theft so that the police and government can refer to it.

http://www.opsi.gov.uk/RevisedStatutes/Acts/ukpga/1968/cukpga_19680060_en_1

With society today, stealing is the easy option. Many people steal to 'get by' or because of peer pressure issues. It is obviously bad to steal and the Bible reffers to it 'Thou shalt not steal'.

Bullying in the Media

Bullying is clearly a form of bad behaviour. It has become a major concern for children in schools. In 2005, BBC started a campaign with David Beckham a well known footballer; he said "Beat Bullying has generated an overwhelming response from young people who have said 'enough is enough'. Bullying isn't always a physical thing, but can also is mental. It can also last over a long period of time in certain places, such as school. Many adults still have strong memories of being bullied in their childhood, as it may have affected their atmosphere and school life. It is good that the media has promoted campaigns like these as it raises awareness to parents and victims. Bullying will never stop but at least children know that there is support for them, which will stop them from being depressed or even worse.

Drug use

Over many years drug's have been seen as 'cool' behaviour. However i believe it is bad behaviour! The Hippy style has been favorable amongst society and especially with young people. Drug use can harm the individual and others around them. This is because drugs are linked with other bad behaviours such as violence. Hallucination can cause violence and paranoia which is not good for the individual or their victims. Websites and hotlines such as the talk to Frank have been set up to help such people.

http://www.talktofrank.com/

In Response to Waquar's blog:

I agree that people take drugs to relieve stress. Also that they can break up families and lives. To add on to that, drug uses affect anyone who they come into contact with. This is because their habit may rub off on other individuals.

Masturbation?

Let's face it, masturbation is rarely the hight of a social topic. Many people think that its a bad thing, due to social norms. In society people are very old-fashioned when it comes to masturabation. I do not believe that masturbation is 'Bad', rather okay when done in private. If one decides to do this publically then yes, its extrememly bad!

What is Bad Behaviour?

How do we define Bad behaviour?

I believe that bad behaviour is something that can potentially harm another or one's self. This includes taking drugs, drinking alcohol, fighting and smoking. However in today's given society, people chose what they want to do and what they don't. It is clear that everyone has elements of 'bad behaviour' in their life and personality. This differentiates people and makes them more individual. Just because on person thinks fighting is wrong, doesn't mean that another will feel the same. Different circumstances and people determine whether the behaviour shown is bad.

Prostitution...

Prostitution is not moral. I believe that selling your body at the benefit of another is an absolute disgrace. Once these people get into this cycle of society, it is hard to get out. Alongside prostitution, lies drug addiction and serious controlling pimps. I believe that people should respect their bodies, and in this day and age it isn't that hard to find an average minimum-wage job. Prostitutes will not earn as much living like this, but they will certainly reduce the risk of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) and Infections. It is clear that you should trust a sexual partner but how can prostitutes when they don't even know them.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/prostitution

In response to Racine's Blog:

I agree that prostitution will always be around. It is an easy way of life for some people and a quick way to make cash.

Smoking-Is it BAD?

I believe that Smoking is a luxury. Some chose to Smoke, some to drink and others take joy in reading. It is up to the individual as to what they wish to consume and get up to on a daily basis. As long as there habit or luxury, doesn't affect others around then it can't be classed as BAD. However if the Smoking is affecting others, by second-hand smoke then it can be deemed as BAD Behaviour. I am a non-smoker and don't really care what others do in their free time. My opinion on the Smoking ban is that it was awfully extreme. I do no exactly like smoke, but in society everyone has to tolerate things that they don't like. The Pub's were fine when there were Smoking and Non-Smoking sections. Why were they changed? All the Government did was put people off the Pub's. This is unfair because hard-working British people enjoyed a good drink and a smoke on a Saturday night!

In Response to Herj's Blog:

I completely agree that smoking doesn't miraculously make someone better looking. It does give them a certain sex appeal. In the reference to 'Grease' i agree that 'sandy' had a better sex appeal this is because she played the 'goody-two-shoes' act throughout the film.
